Sheriff Jake Williams

John Grady Williams was born September 7, 1913, the son of Thomas Isaac and Rosa Guffey Williams. As a young man he was a circuit riding fur buyer with his father. He farmed and traded cattle. He drove stock to the railroad for shipment to the St. Louis stockyards and later owned and operated a sawmill. Mr. Williams married Hope Sitton on December 26, 1934 and they raised two daughters. His wife died November 1, 1999 and Jake died on January 8, 2000. They are buried in the Lexington Cemetery.
