Jerry Hickman receives sentence for June 2nd, 2014 Archery Creek Bridge accident.

On June 2nd, 2014 Clinton Police Department, Arkansas State Police and the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident, at US Highway 65 and Archery Creek Bridge, where new construction to the bridge was taking place. A south bond log truck had overturned and lost its load that struck workers on the bridge, causing 2 fatalities and numerous in injuries. The driver of the log truck was identified at the time as 39 year old Jerry L. Hickman of Bee Branch, who later tested positive for methamphetamine was arrested on September 3rd, 2014 and charged with 2 counts of felony Negligent Homicide, 10 counts of Battery in the 1st, degree, and 6 counts of Battery in the 2nd, degree. Hickman was held without bond.
After approximately two incarcerated at the Van Buren County Office, on September 19th, 2016, in Van Buren County Circuit Court, 41 year old Jerry L. Hickman entered a plea of guilty to 2 counts of Negligent Homicide, 10 counts of felony Battery in the 1st degree and 6 counts of felony Battery in the 2nd, degree. Hickman was sentenced to 40 years (480 months) to the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
