Local Attorney Dies after an Altercation at the Black Dog Bar & Grill

On Thursday May 3rd, 2012, Clinton City Police Officers responded to a disturbance at the Black Dog Bar and Grill owned by Clinton lawyer and restaurant owner Brett Blakney. Officer reported that Blakney and a male, (who was later identified as 27 year old Rosendo Ross Meek of Clinton and who had previously been banned from the restaurant), was involved in an altercation at the restaurant. Officer report says Meek struck Blakney causing, Blakney to hit his head on the pavement. Blakney was transported to Ozark Health Medical Center where he later died, from injuries to his head. After and investigation by the Arkansas State Police and assisted by Van Buren County investigators, obtained an arrest warrant for Rosendo Ross Meek for Manslaughter. On Saturday May 5th 2012, Meeks was apprehended inCrawfordCounty near his father’s home and was transported back to Van Buren County to face charges.
Meek was charged with manslaughter, a Class A felony, and criminal trespass, a misdemeanor, and is being held in the Van Buren County Detention Center on $300,000 bond.
